Target Student Group
8 – 26 years old foreign students studying at primary, secondary, high school , or university level.
1) For students to immerse in a suitable environment, in order to improve their English proficiency in the shortest time possible
2) To allow the students to experience a different culture and develop a better understanding of Singapore
3) To allow the students to get to know other students from various countries, interact and learn from one another
4) Ultimately, it is to enable students to be able to learn while in a relaxed and enjoyable manner
Singapore is a country where east meets west. The mixture of these two cultures allows the students from all parts of the world to feel at home.
Being a multi-racial society, Singapore allows students to have an extraordinary multi-cultural experience and enable them to develop a deeper understanding of the different races and cultures.
Singapore is no doubt, considered to be one of the safest countries with high security and political stability.
The public transport system is very well established, making it convenient for students to travel around if they would like to do so.
There are many expatriates and foreign students residing in Singapore and thus, students will not feel out of place in a new environment.
Duration of Trip
Possible duration of the trip is from 4 weeks to 6 weeks.
Months in which the trip is conducted are as follows: January, March, July, August, November, December.
Mondays to Fridays, 5 times, 30 hours of lessons a week
9 a.m. to 1p.m.: English Language Graded Certification Class (includes: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing)
1.p.m. to 2 p.m.: Lunch
2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Interactive English Session for Real-life Application
Weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), 12 hours of touring a week
NLBS Teachers will bring the students out to various tourist attractions and significant places in Singapore for the students to tour and learn along the way.
Places of Interest includes some of the following: Universal Studio, Sentosa, Singapore Zoo, Botanic Garden, Jurong Bird Park, Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore Philatelic Museum, Singapore River, Merlion Park and etc.
Public Holidays (If any)
Accommodation: Home-stay (In vicinity of the Nanyang Language & Business School)
First-Come-First-Serve Basis: With early registration, the host-homes would be nearer to NLBS.
For students below 12 years of age, the home-stay guardians will fetch them to and from NLBS. For students above 12 years of age, the home-stay guardians will bring them to NLBS for the first time, to familiarize them with the route.
3 meals – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner will be provided: *however, as lunch time is only for 1 hour, most students prefer to have lunch in eateries near NLBS. In that case, please prepare some money for allowance.
Laundry Services – Washing and Ironing of clothing will be provided as well
Airport Pick-up/ Drop-off Service: After the students have registered and made payment, they are to inform NLBS of their flight numbers. NLBS will then make arrangements for people to pick the students up when they arrive
Visa Matters: For students from visa-required countries
Students must make the arrangements and obtain a social visit pass on their own in their countries
If the student would like NLBS to help apply for a social visit pass, there will be a fee
Documents required: Photocopy of applicant’s passport and 2 recent passport-sized photographs of the applicant
It will take about 7 days for the social visit pass application.
For parents, this would be a good chance to improve parent-child relationship. Parents could attend this trip together with their child, learning and touring together.

Before setting off, students should make arrangements for travel insurance in their own countries and provide their proof of insurance, or can make payment of $60 to our college to buy the local medical insurance on your behalf, or prepare a sum of money to be used in emergency cases. In the case of an emergency (e.g. injury/ accident), the School will not be liable to pay the costs incurred.
